Cleveland Clinic Heart Surgery Program Now at Fairview Hospital

Fairview Hospital, a member of the Cleveland Clinic Health System and already known as a sophisticated heart center, has now joined forces with the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation to provide world-renowned heart surgery on Cleveland’s West Side. That’s great news for West Side residents.

“The Cleveland Clinic is synonymous with cutting-edge care and great surgical results,” says Mark Valentine, vice president of cardiac services for the Cleveland Clinic Health System – Western Region. “This partnership allows Cleveland Clinic heart surgeons to work with community cardiologists, to ensure Fairview Hospital remains a premier Heart Center on Cleveland’s West Side.”

The Cleveland Clinic has earned a reputation for treating complicated heart problems. The Cleveland Clinic Heart Surgery Program at Fairview will assure that heart surgery patients at Fairview Hospital will have access to the most advanced surgical procedures available.

“As a new Cleveland Clinic heart surgery site, our surgeons will benefit from the newest procedures currently being refined at the Clinic, while our nursing staff will master the latest techniques in cardiac patient care,” say Baldev Sekhon, M.D., cardiothoracic surgeon and director of The Cleveland Clinic Heart Surgery Program at Fairview Hospital.

By standardizing patient protocols and encompassing the quality management that the Cleveland Clinic is known for, this partnership will greatly benefit the West Side community.  “Fairview is a great hospital and I look forward to being part of the team set in place to expand the Heart Center’s program,” say Inderfit Gill, M.D., a Cleveland Clinic surgeon who recently joined Fairview’s cardiothoracic surgical team.
